Guidelines: http://www.local-motors.com/competition.php?c=52
Engineering Requirements:
· Race Vehicle: The Race Vehicle must have at least three points of contact with the ground. Hovering is not allowed.
· Race Vehicle must be mechanically driven. Fan and turbine thrust propulsion are not allowed.
· Race Vehicle Must contain a cockpit suitable for two people: Driver and Navigator.
· Your Race vehicle must have a cargo bay that can fit required items: extra parts and tools in case of a break down, First Aid Kit, ice picks and shovel, fire suppression and 500ft (150m) of rope, as well as enough water for two people for two days.
· Race Vehicle must accommodate a high powered lighting system for racing at night or in bad weather.
· Finally, your Race Vehicle must be able to fit in a IPFR cargo container measuring 50 feet (15m) long, by 15 feet (4.57m) wide by 15 feet (4.57m) tall. When fully assembled it cannot exceed these dimensions.
Engineering Guidelines:
· Your Race Vehicle will encounter every climate and terrain imaginable on the earth Consider innovative ways to tackle these challenges.
· Try to base your designs off of emerging science and back up your claims behind any conceptual ideas.
Tom, thanks for posting. Whereas this is interesting, I highly recommend that you don't limit this project to engineering requirements. Instead, allow conceptual idea, your design philosophy, and personality to guide this process. Since you are a prospect art center student, you have the room to be daring and adventurous with ideas. That's what they want to see as well~
ReplyDeleteThanks David, sounds good to me!
